As part of its community development program, RTEES Nepal organized earthquake relief activities in rural villages of Rasuwa and Dhading Districts along with Rebuilding Volunteer program, Education Sponsorship, Sanitation and Drinking Water Supply, Herbal Farming, Cooperative Management, Biodiversity Conservation, Tourism Promotion and other community upiftment and income generation programs.
RTEES is one of the implementing partner NGOs of The Mountain Institute which has worked with mountain farmers in remote areas of Rasuwa District of Nepal’s Himalayas since 2009, teaching them to cultivate and sell medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs). These agro-enterprises enable the farmers to earn more money and meet their families’ basic needs. This type of sustainable cultivation provides an alternative to destructive harvesting practices, protecting native plants and local forests. To date we have trained more than 600 farmers in Rasuwa.
